Kananu challenges women MCAs to be on the frontline in oversight role
Nairobi Deputy Governor Ann Kananu has challenged women MCAs to be on the frontline in legislative work at the assembly.
The DG has called on the female legislators not to watch from the periphery as their male colleagues take charge of all the major legislative work.
She said this when she met with members of the Nairobi County Assembly Women’s Caucus led by Chairperson Doris Kanario.
” You must continue speaking out and re-thinking and strategizing with a view to enhancing your influence in the oversight role,” Kananu said
Ms Kananu assured the team of her full support in championing for women leaders at all levels as agents of change.
The caucus chairperson hailed the DG for the work she has done so far,calling on her colleagues to support her work.
” We must continue working together and elavate the role women are playing in this county,”
The Caucus Chaipreson was accompanied by Waithera Chege – Deputy Majority Party Whip, Melab Atemah – Deputy Minority Party Leader, Emapet Kemunto- Member Speakers Panel, Carolyn Mayunzu – Organizing Secretary, Women Caucus and Rose Ogonda- Deputy Whip, Women Caucus and other members. H. E was accompanied by County Executive for Sports, Janet Ouko.
