600, 000 households to benefit from MoU signed bewteen MoH, State Dpt for Social Protection and NHIF
PS Health Susan Mochache together with her counterpart in the State Department for social protection Nelson Marwa and the NHIF CEO Dr. Peter Kamunyo have today signed an MoU on Systematic Access of National Safety Net Program Beneficiaries to NHIF.
The MoU between MOH_Kenya, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and the National Hospital Insurance Fund is expected to benefit an estimated 600,000 households from NHIF services under the program.
“The vision of the ministry is to have a sustainable National Insurance Scheme that aims to progressively provide health-care to all Kenyans through a sustainable out-put based financing insurance model, that will be managed by the NHIF,” said the PS after signing the MOU.
The other steps the Ministry has taken in the advancement of UHC includes;
i. Support for the Health Insurance Subsidy Programme for the Elderly (70+), Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCS) and People living with severe disability (PLWSDs).
ii. The pilot in UHC pilot in four counties.
iii. Edu Afya Medical Insurance.
iv. Linda Mama programme among others.
