Uhuru meets Raila, OKA leaders at Mombasa State House
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday met ODM leader Raila Odinga and One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals at State House Mombasa.
The OKA principals are ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula and Kanu’s Gideon Moi.
Mudavadi, Musyoka and Wetangula were with Odinga in CORD and NASA in the last two general elections against Uhuru’s Jubilee.
Sources privy to the meeting say the agenda was to craft a united line-up that would face off against Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 presidential election.
The head of state has been pushing for a united Opposition that would endorse a single candidate in the 2022 presidential contest.
This comes hot on the heels of Musyoka’s launch of a Presidential Secretariat dubbed SKM Command Center that he launched in Karen, Nairobi as he prepares for a second stab at the president. He emreged theird behind Raila and Foirmer President Mwai Kibaki in the highly controversial elections of 2007.
Deputy President William Ruto is currently flying high with his UDA party having beaten President Uhuru Kenyatta in Kiambaa Constituency by-election last month.
Political pundits believe that it’s only the unity of Raila Odinga and OKA leaders that can beat Deputy President William Ruto in 2022.
