International Youth Day marked virtually in Mombasa

This year’s celebrations for the International Youth Day in Mombasa county were marked through virtual conference at PrideInn Paradise beach hotel in Nyali constituency.

Mombasa County Executive in charge of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Tendai Mtana Lewa said they have embarked on a campaign for youths to be on the forefront in the economic environs.

Tendai said the youths should be on the forefront in food security in the farming and fishing sectors.

He pointed out the food sector will be able to create employment opportunities for youths.

“The sector will be able to generate income for the youth and economically empower them,” he pointed out.

Tendai said food security will double up for the nutritional needs and health of the generations to come.

He spoke during the marking international youth day held in Nyali constituency, Mombasa county.

The County Executive reminded the forum they are exploring opportunities in the sector.

Tendai acknowledged the country is still a youth nation in line with the celebration taking stock of the successes the youth have achieved.

He added county government is out to give youths support in their endeavors in economic empowerment thorough the sector.

“The county’s resources are a blessing to youths which will enable them to tap into and make use of them,” he pointed out.

In his welcome remarks, the county chief officer in charge of youth Mugabe Innocent said this year’s international celebrations’ agenda is transforming the food system through youth innovation.

He said the county government has given the government blue economy priority as food system contributor.

“The county government will make opportunity to educate the youth and create awareness on the blue economy program,” he pointed out.
