The Federation of Women Lawyers [FIDA] Kenya has rolled out a program which is the first of a series of regional meetings aimed at bringing women leaders in the 47 counties to build brighter movements.
FIDA Kenya’s Executive Director Anne Ireri defended the movement saying it will advocate for women’s space and safety against gender violence [GV].
She pointed out the movement will be keen to ensure women’s political participation towards the 2022 general elections.
“I wish to refute claims the organization is focusing only on women political participation in the 2022 polls as it also focuses beyond next year’s election,” he pointed out.
Ireri said they have resolved to support any woman candidate going for an elective post during the forthcoming elections.
She was addressing journalists in relation to women’s rights in relation to the political happenings in Kenya held at Neptune beach hotel in Mombasa county.
The FIDA Kenya boss said they will support women aspirants despite their political affiliation ahead of the polls.
Ireri assured women aspirants they will get the backing of the organization in various ways with their blessings.
She added the support for them is leverage on property issues arguing they are aware of forth coming elections issues.
“We are keen on the ways the law says on political parties to spare space on the two thirds gender requirements,” she pointed out.
