Notorious Mobile Phone Thieves Surrender to the Police Station
I have never understood why people steal in this Kanairo. Ok, I understand that the economic situation especially after COVID-19 pandemic has had an adverse effect on people, but still that is not justification for you to steal.
Last week, I was boarding a Matatu to Kayole and OTC. Immediately I got into the Matatu, I realized I had lost my phone. I was so mad because that was a company phone. My employer was going to fire me because I was supposed to only use that phone in the office.
I alighted from the vehicle and reported the incident at the nearby police station. However, police didn’t help as they wanted to be bribed just give me an OB number. I gave them the only 200 shillings I had and walked to Kayole on foot. I got to my house just before curfew started. I slept hungry that night and really prayed to God that I get that thief.
The next morning, I woke up to borrow Ksh 100 bob from my local shopkeeper called Mama Yao. I needed to get to work and report the incident to my boss. When I got to work, my boss accused me of selling her phone because its price was seven times my salary. She told me the money will be deducted from my salary every month for six years.
That was double the amount I paid for my mabati structure in Kayole. I knew my life was done. There was no way I was gonna pay all that money.
That evening, I went back home. I hadn’t eaten for more than a day because I didn’t have food in the house. I needed to take some flour from Mama Yao’s shop to cook ugali.
At the shop, I narrated to her my ordeal and told I was to pay my boss for six years. Mama Yao felt sorry for me and told me she could help me get my phone back. She told me to go back in the morning to see her.
The next morning, Mama Yao directed me to go to the police station where I had reported the incident. And behold, I found the cops waiting for me. They told me they didn’t know how to contact me because my phone was off. I told them I was off because the phone had been stolen.
They told me two people had walked to the police station the previous night and confessed to stealing a phone at OTC. They were shouting my name. I asked to see the phone and it was exactly the one which had been stolen from me.
When I went back home, I told Mama Yao that I had found my lost phone. She just laughed and told me she had made her miracles work. She told, she had contacted the famous Doctor Mugwenu to help recover the phone.
According to Mama Yao, the famous herbalist, Dr Mugwenu was also the reason her business was thriving even though she was giving a lot of things on credit.
I contacted Mugwenu to thank him for helping me recover my phone. He told me he could also help me start my own business. Today, I have a shop selling motorbike spare parts in Kayole.
