There is need to strengthen disaster prevention approaches in Eastern Africa through emerging technologies, Kenya National Commission for UNESCO Secretary General, Dr.Evangeline Njoka has said.
Njoka was speaking during a training of first responders and policy makers on the use of Artificial Intelligence for disaster risk reduction Chatbot organised by the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO in Nairobi.
She said with the launch and piloting of the Artificial Intelligence Chatbot Mobile Application, the future of disaster management through timely reporting and response will be revolutionized.
“Mobile technology is an engine for change and the adoption of AI technologies is already transforming the future of disaster which if not properly checked can increase because of climate change,” She said.
