Fresh Push to Rename Mbagathi Road to Raila Odinga
Mbagathi Road will be renamed after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga should a motion that is set to be tabled next week pass.
The motion sponsored by Makongeni MCA who is also the Minority Chief Whip Peter Imwatok, will see the road constructed by Raila during his stint as Roads Minister named after him.
The speaker confirmed that he had received the motion which will be tabled next week Tuesday.
Imwatok says the proposal seeks to honor the Retired Prime Minister for his contribution in the growth and development of the Kenyan State.
“Observing that for his entire adult life, Raila Amollo Odinga has greatly impacted the development of the Kenyan state both democratically and economically; and has during this period involved in fighting for greater democratic space, good governance, rule of law and development of infrastructure against many odds including detention without trial for ten years,” read part of the motion.
This includes his selfless sacrifice in championing for good governance, democratic space and development of infrastructure in his entire life.Loading…
In 2005, Raila Odinga who was the Minister for Roads and Public Works, he conceived planned and implemented masterpiece infrastructure such as The Thika Super Highway and Mbagathi Concrete road which has since proved to be durable road ever constructed in Kenya.
Hon Imwatok says it will be a great honor to give back a hand for this great contribution.
Currently, Raila is the Representative of Infrastructure development in the African Union [AU]
