Kabogo joins crowded race for Kiambu governor seat
Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has announced bid for Kiambu gubernatorial seat in August 9th.
Speaking to the media, Kabogo said that the people of Kiambu have been reaching out to him to vie for the seat.
“I will obey your wishes despite the fact that I was interested in the presidency,” Kabogo said that people of Kiambu have been reaching out to him.
Other political giants eyeing the Kiambu seat include Nyoro, former Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Senator Kimani Wamatangi, Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndicho and Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina.
He said that, he will vie for the seat on Tujibebe Wakenya Party ticket.
He said that, the party will field candidates across the Country as its now full registered and complying with the guidelines of the registrar of political parties.
“I have widely consulted my people on the ground and they want me to be their next governor of Kiambu and I have accepted,” Kabogo said.
He said that he will traverse the whole of Kiambu County talking to the people on the ground seeking their blessings.
The county has 12 sub-counties. Ruiru has the highest number of registered voters at 159,337, followed by Thika (147,761), Juja (114,761), Githunguri (99,384), Kiambaa (95,413), Kikuyu (91,157) and Limuru (87, 258).
Others are Kabete (85,446), Kiambu (80,730), Lari (76,655), Gatundu South (75,858) and Gatundu North (67,598).
The aspirants are expected to battle it out for the 1,180,920 Kiambu votes with each gunning for the highest percentage of votes in populous constituencies.
The incumbent James Nyoro during the Azimio la Umoja event in Thika Stadium drummed the support for him to be elected.
