Former PS, Irungu Nyakeria appointed Farmers Party national chairperson

Former Principal Secretary Irungu Nyakeria has been appointed the national chairperson for Farmers Party.
Nyakeria served Principal Secretary, State Department of Transport, Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing & Urban Development.
The members believe Nyakeria brings to the party a rich wealth of private and public sector experience for the success of the party having chaired the Tea Price Stabilization Taskforce, chairman tea and coffee platform in Murang’a and chairperson Political parties liaison committee.
Others appointed include; Elias Mwangi Mugwe the deputy director, campaigns and Simon Chege Kamangu deputy organizing secretary external affairs.
Godfrey Akumali took the deputy organizing secretary recruitment position.
The party envisions a country that is food and nutrition secured and where farmers who are the backbone of the economy take their rightful place in the economy.
“We welcome aspirants and members who have the vision to transform the country via agriculture to join our party and together we will ensure that agriculture achieves a minimum 40%GDP contribution. Through agriculture, we will touch every Kenyan and support a robust Kenyan economy through value addition and sustainable jobs for youths and women and opportunities for business people and innovators in various agriculture value chains,” said the members in a meeting convened at their headquarter this week.
The members further appreciated the guidance and and vision of the Farmers Party’s patron David Kigochi.
“As the leadership of the party, we commit to the achievement of the party’s vision and betterment of the country,” they stated.
