DAP-K Party has insisted that it will not yield to demands by dominant parties in the Azimio la Unoja coalition to zone areas where certain parties will be allowed to field candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking today when the party received several defectors who joined the party today at the party Headquarters, Chui House, Nairobi, several leaders led by Party Patron Eugene Wamalwa, Party Leader Wafula Wamunyinyi, Party Secretary General Eseli Simiyu and several other leaders maintained that the party is set to hold its party nominations soon and will field candidates from Governor to Member of County Assembly in all corners of the country come august 9th when the country goes to the polls.

Wheareas the party maintains it will support ODMs Raila Odinga for the top seat, it says it needs to be given the desired space to grow by letting it field candidates in all other positions other than that of the presidency without prejudice.

‘This is the fastest growing party in the region. It has scared many who are now saying that the party is being sponsored by the state. The party is not state sponsored and let me assure you that it is what we dreamt of and it will take the country by storm,’ Wamalwa said.

Wamunyinyi said that the party will not bow to pressure from bigger parties in Azimio especially ODM, a dominant party in the coalition which they accuse of wanting to intimidate smaller parties not to field candidates in certain areas, remarks echoed by Simiyu.

‘They should focus on ensuring that Raila wins the presidency instead of fighting other parties,’ they said.

Matungu MP Peter Nabulindo who defected from ANC to DAP-K recently also castigated ODM for wanting to play big boy in Azimio. He also asked the Raila led Orange party to stop maligning other partners in Azimio and instead focus their energies in ensuring Raila ascends to powere after August 9th.

‘It does not matter who wins what down here. ODM luminaries should instead be working round the clock to see to it that the Azimio candidates wins the elections. Not small fight about who should field who and where,’ Nabulindo offered.

Butere MP Tindi Mwale who defected to DAP-K two weeks ago from ANC was brutal in his remarks. He asked the team from DAP-K tasked to negotiate with other Azimio partners on the way forward not to relent but walk out of meetings if their demands are not met.

‘In the team to be led by Noah Wekesa to champion for our demands, I ask that we have one ‘insane’ person in it. We have learnt from where we have come from (ANC). We do not want to repeat those mistakes. Our demands must be met. If need be, walk out of those meetings in protest. In ANC were taught not to retaliate even if they threw stones at you. Not anymore. Not here,’ Mwale said.

Luanda Constituency MP aspirant Albert Obbuyi also echoed the same sentiments. He said that DAP-K should be left alone to hold its own primaries and field candidates anywhere in the country without intimidation.

Obbuyi who was among the defectors who joined the party on Wednesday added that the party means well for the country hence the reason he joined the new outfit.

‘As at now, we are confident of going to hold free, fair, transparent and competent party nominations. We are not going to relent on that.’ the vibrant Luanda MP aspirant said.

Meanwhile, Wamalwa hit out at DP Ruto for making negative remarks about DRC. Wamalwa said those remarks were uncalled for and should never be repeated.

‘DRC are our neighbors and we should respect them. The Deputy President’s remarks were out of order and should never be entertained.

On Monday, William Ruto told residents of Nyeri, that there was a big market for their dairy produce in DR Congo – and appeared to suggest that there were no cattle in that country.
