Uhuru in surprise ‘nyama choma’ tour with veteran city MCAs
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday made a surprise visit at the Kenyatta Market in Nairobi where he mingled and listened to wananchi’s concerns.
The president was accompanied by veteran Nairobi MCAs led by majority leader Abdi Guyo( Matopeni), Paul Kados ( Mihango) and Robert Mbatia ( Kariobangi South).
In his address to the Market traders,Uhuru said that no amount of abusive language will deter him from working to ensure the country is peaceful and united under the spirit of the handshake.
Uhuru told of Deputy President William Ruto over criticism on the government, noting that he is proud of what he has managed to achieve.
” No matter how much they abuse me l will not stop working on what will unite this country under the handshake spirit,” Uhuru said.
The Kenyatta Market that he toured is set to recieve a major facelift to provide traders with improved workplaces.
The president also bought some products from the traders and encouraged them to work hard in their daily endeavours.
The president drove himself at the market in the company of the MCAs who drove behind him.
According to Robert Mbatia,the ‘small’ tour was also meant to evoke the memories of the life the president secretly loved when he was the Minister for Local Government during the Kibaki regime.
” The president has always been a man of the people and this surprise tour reminds us of who he is and what he has always been” Mbatia said.
The president also bought some products from the traders and encouraged them to work hard in their daily endeavours.
