Uhuru Leads Kenyans In Paying Tribute To Mzee Kibaki At Parliament
President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on Monday led the country in viewing the body of former President Emilio Mwai Kibaki which is lying-in-State at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi.
Other state officials in attendance included Deputy President William Ruto, Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Bundi Muturi, Speaker of the Senate Ken Lusaka, former Kibaki’s Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, National Assembly Leader of Majority Amos Kimunya, Senate Minority Leader James Orengo, Cabinet Secretaries amongst many others.
The Judiciary was represented by Chief Justice Martha Koome, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu amongst others.
Kibaki’s four children were also present to receive the President.
Kibaki’s body will lie in state at the parliament for three days, before his state funeral on Friday, with full military honours and protocols.
