Igathe kicks off Campaigns with 5 am meeting with Wakulima market traders
Jubilee gubernatorial candidate for Nairobi Polycarp Igathe on Wednesday kicked off his campaigns with an early morning surprise visit to Wakulima market.
Igathe mingled and enjoyed a cup of tea and Mandazi with the traders and passersby before making an official address.
In a recent TV interview,the corporate guru had promised that he will revolutionize the Nairobi campaigns by waking up early.
He said that his voters are those who wake up early to work.
At the busy Wakulima market,Igathe promised to upgrade the status of all fresh produce markers as well as building more in the outskirts of the Central Business District.
” We understand that this market is congested and we need to build more if we have to create more jobs,” Igathe said.
The Wakulima market is the most prominent fresh produce retail market.
Farmers from upcountry bring their farm products for sell to various retail traders.
Igathe also promised to ensure that is fairness in relocation of traders to the Kangudo road market in Eastlands.
Igathe is facing an uphill task in beating Johnson Sakaja of Kenya Kwanza.
A Tuesday poll by TIFA ranked Sakaja as the most popular candidate with 23% while Igathe as 15% ratings.
The poll however found out that a massive 53% of Nairobi voters are undecided.
