11,OOO Vehicles Already Registered to Use Express Way

The Nairobi Expressway is now open to the public. Speaking Saturday morning when inspecting the grand project, Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia said that the Nairobi Expressway is expected to exponentially reduce traffic along Mombasa road.
“Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) is more of express passing; manual and cash takes at least 4 minutes for motorists to be cleared at the Nairobi Expressway.”
The CS James Macharia added,
“Enhancement and beautification of old Mombasa Road is going to cost Ksh9B; and that the Government will build Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) System
The CS added, that 11,000 thousand vehicles have so far been registered on the road with about 7000 having registered to use the electronic toll collection.
The 27.1-km elevated highway that has been underway since mid-2020 will be commissioned by end of the month depending on the President’s calendar.
The Sh72 billion project is a public-private partnership funded, with no debt incurred by the government.
