East African Breweries Limited and its iconic Tusker brand are marking a century of existence in the local and regional market with a three-day jamboree which came to a climax on Friday 20th May 2022.
Over its hundred-year history, the regional Juggernaut has cemented itself as one of the biggest, most iconic brands in the country, and in Africa. As it takes stock of its history, the company will use its storied past as a springboard to even greater heights for the future.
The East African Breweries Limited Marketing Manager for Beers, Jean Okech-Nyawara, channeled the elation the company has, following the achievement of this milestone: “Now that we have gotten ourselves into this exclusive category of brands, not onlyKenya, but also globally, the only way is up. We will continue to reinvent ourselves in the next century, guided by the dynamic needs of our consumers, suppliers and our goals for the next century.”
The birthday celebrations are also a statement of intent by the brand for posterity. EABL & Tusker are one the of the biggest supporters of Kenyan arts and culture and plans to continue to do so for many years to come.
“It is the Kenyan people that have supported us over the past 100 years and lifted us to the heights that we have achieved today. Therefore, we will continue to give back to Kenyans by supporting causes that bring us together, as we have done in the past. We are always on the lookout for initiatives and causes that we can get behind to achieve our goal of being a symbol of unity for the Kenyan people, at a time when a lot exists that seeks to separate us. This is only the beginning. The celebration of Tusker continues for the rest of this year, and beyond,” added Okech-Nyawara.
As brand Tusker, the centenary year has seen the iconic brand put together a nationwide talent search with the objective of bringing out the next generation of stars in music and eSports. Dubbed Tusker Nexters, this initiative travelled across the country and introduced audiences to some special talents in music.
For the next century, Tusker is choosing to zero in on eSports, or organized electronic sports, which is globally considered as the next frontier of virtual sport, evidenced by the fact that for the first time, there will be an eSports category of competition at the XXII Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England this August. Tusker seeks to therefore position itself at the forefront of heralding the age of eSports in Kenya for the next hundred years.
The celebration continues for the rest of 2022. For more information on what is next for Tusker, follow the brand’s social media platforms on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
