NEMA Director General Mamo Boru feted

Not many directors match the tact and skill of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) Director General Mamo Boru Mamo.
He is indeed, a son of the soil. After carefully and meticulously steering NEMA to progress and putting it on the national front, Mr Mamo added another feather to his hat.
Other than holding the prestigious title of Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS) Mr. Mamo has also been awarded the prestigious Africa Public Sector CEO of the Year Award in Accra, Ghana at the 3rd Africa Public Sector Conference and Awards ceremony 2022.
Mamo is credited with several environmental conservation measures. Firstly he defended all open spaces in Nairobi against grabbers. He had them gazetted.
Secondly his agency spearheaded the clean up of the Nairobi River and subsequent restoration and preservation of the Michuki Park.
Mamo Boru Mamo, EBS has over 20 years of experience in public service with 16 years of work experience at the National Environment Management authority (NEMA) having grown through the ranks to the position of Director General.
Mamo holds an MSc in Environmental Education from Kenyatta University and a Bachelor’s of science Degree from Egerton University. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in climate change and Sustainability at Kenyatta University.
He is an alumni of International Leadership Program (IVLP) Washington DC (USA) in Water Resources Protection (2013)
He was appointed as the Director General following a competitive process on 13th August 2020.
Mamo was awarded Elder of Burning Spear (EBS) accolade by H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta on 16th December 2021
Mamo is also kind, keen listener and results oriented.
