Irungu Nyakera Intensifies Farmers Uplift Programme
By John Kariuki
The incoming Murang’a Governor Irungu Nyakera has continued to uplift the farmer through capacity building and benchmarking.
The experienced technocrat with a wealth of experience in both public and private sector, has been and indeed remains on the forefront as the most preferred Governor for Murang’a.
He is among other things credited with the fruition of the tea and coffee reforms that have seen farmers reap more from their hardwork.
He is also rolling out the Kahawa Boost Program. In his Facebook post he said
“Farmers from Sabasaba FCS benefited from a benchmarking program held yesterday at Gathaithi FCS in Nyeri. The Sabasaba farmers had a lot of great things to learn about coffee farming and processing.
They all left Gathaithi feeling challenged and optimistic that, one step at a time, they will rebuild their factory to the same level as Gathaithi. As the Irungu Nyakera Foundation Kahawa Boost Program comes to a close, all I can hope for is that the farmers who benefited from this edition will have higher quality and quantity coffee yields in the coming years. As a result, farmers will reap the lion’s share and have more money in their pockets. As we work to make Murang’a the richest county in Kenya, let us make 2022 and beyond the Year of Farmers.”
