Abdul Kore: Why I am The Best to be Mandera South MP
By Martin Masinde
Abdul Kore is the man after the hearts of the people of Mandera South. Mr Kore is running on the United Democratic Movement party ticket.
The Times independently sought an exclusive interview with him and this is what he had to say:
Diversity and inclusion top of our agenda… UDM Party’s Agenda is about all of us and about us having to figure out how to walk through Mandera South together.
Diversity and inclusion under my leadership will remain at the centre of everything we do.
“My very first priority and manifesto is to address the issue of insecurity. For a long time Mandera has suffered insecurity and in collaboration with the national and county government we are going to beef up security in the area. The government has indeed done a substantial effort to boost security along the border which is why we have relative security.
The second most important pillar is education. Honorable Kore believes Education is key and it should be given the attention it deserves. This Honorable Kore says he will do by expanding the bursary kitty provided for under the National Government and also boost it with that of the county government.
On agriculture he says he will work to promote irrigation through harnessing waters of the available rivers and utilizing it to bring an economic turn around.
On livestock, he says he will lobby for a bill in parliament to see to it that livestock farmers have access to an insurance scheme at an affordable rate so as to protect their livelihood.
We will also work to promote destocking which is selling livestock at an early stage before they are consumed by the drought. We will also work on compensation especially for the pastoralists who lose their livestock to the vagaries of famine.
Honorable Kore is also optimistic that neighbouring Somalia continue to stabilise especially under the Captainship of newly inaugurated president so as to legalize and legitimise cross border trade.
His parting shot is for the electorate in general to make the prudent decision come 9th August and vote in The Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga, popularly known as Baba the 5th as the next President alongside his running mate, The Honorable Martha Wangari Karua.
