The Tournament aims to showcase Kenya as an Investment, Tourism and Golfing destination
Safaricom, under M-PESA Global, will sponsor the inaugural Kenyan Diplomatic Golf Tournament set to take place on 29th July 2022 at The Shire London golf course in north London.
M-PESA Global enables customers to send and receive money and make and receive payments through M-PESA across more than 200 countries and localities.
The one-day tournament will bring together over 100 international golfers including participants from High Commissions and Consulates, diplomats and government officials, Kenyan and international business communities and other friends of the country from the United Kingdom and across the globe.
The Inaugural Golf tournament comes on the heels of a 14-leg Safaricom golf tour that aims to tap, nurture and grow talent among young golfers across Kenya.
“It’s a privilege for us to be part of the inaugural Kenya High Commission Golf tournament in London. Our focus is to work collaboratively with the Government of Kenya and other partners to strategically raise the profile of Kenya as a premier investment, tourism and golfing destination in the United Kingdom and Europe,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO – Safaricom.
The overall winner of the tournament will earn a slot to play in the grand finale of the ongoing Safaricom Golf Tour that will be held at the PGA accredited Vipingo Ridge golf course on 6th August with Kenya Airways providing free return tickets.
Ndegwa added that they are keen on partnerships and sponsorships that drive transformation with sports being a key area of focus for the company.
The long-term vision of the tournament is to give back to charitable causes in Kenya as well as raise the profile of the country’s tourism in the United Kingdom and Europe.
