Kenya Takes On Uganda At The Victoria Cup Tournament

Team Kenya beat team Uganda 21-5 in the final round of the annual Victoria Cup tournament after a four day match which concluded yesterday at the Limuru Country Club.
It was not an easy game as the Ugandan team put up a strong fight in the final day of the match where their luck got better than the previous days.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Uganda Golf Union President Mr. Moses Marsiko thanked Kenya Golf Union and Limuru Country Club for hosting the 2022 tournament.
He added,”I have seen exceptional talent and cooperation from both teams promoting brotherhood between our two countries. The competition is not over.” Kenya Golf Union Chairman Mr. Njani Nderitu added that this was one of the best golf from both teams and congratulated the home team for bringing the trophy back home.
Home players Ebill Omolo, Sammy Mulama, Dennis Maara, John Lejirma, Daniel Kiragu, Mutahi Kibugu and Mike Karanga registered victories in contrasting style while Chris Andrea, Adel Balala and Andrew Wahome lost their singles matches.
“I am very proud of this team, their willpower, determination and most important the team spirit. The players’ effort over the last two weeks has been commendable. We look to keep the momentum as we prepare for future , “said John Liefland, Team Kenya coach.
Kenya has won the trophy four times since the inauguration of Victoria Cup in 2016. Uganda held the cup in 2019.
