Enough of Politics We Need to Move on, Abdulswamad Tells Opponents

Mombasa County needs to move on and put the daily politics aside for the next five years to come.

Mombasa governor elect Abdulswamad Nassir has sent a passionate appeal to politicians to put politics aside for the sake of delivery of service to the county electorate.

He said his appeal is to those who voted for him as well as those who never did during his quest to be governor for the next the ten years to come.

“It’s up to me to ensure I retain the  gubernatorial seat for the next ten years to come,” he pointed out.

He was speaking during a Networking Dinner for the Mombasa Business Community under the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) held at Jumeirah Beach Front in Nyali Constituency, Mombasa County.

The governor elect said during the event organized by the KNCCI Mombasa chapter that there is an urgent need to put the campaigns period behind so that things continue normally as before the elections.  

 Abdulswamad urged the stakeholders to ensure the county remained calm and focused adding that he will rely on his manifesto on the tourism sector.

He told the forum plans for a ground breaking event to put up two conference facilities are at an advanced stage.

 “The facility will add advantage to promoting the tourism sector in the county,” he pointed out.

Taita Taveta Governor Andrew Mwadime said he is proud to see he and one of his colleagues have been elevated to the position of governor.

He told the forum they have both been tested and therefore they are both up to the task and urged county electorate to forget the past and focus ahead to the future for them to deliver service.

“Let’s forget what happened in the past and the electorate should instead focus on the future,” he said.    

In his welcome remarks, KNCCI Mombasa chapter chairman Mustafa Ramadhan said the forum was convened by the governor elect to understand the challenges they have encountered and which need to be addressed.

He said the forum was meant for him to understand the issues affecting them before the dust settles when he takes over officially after the inauguration slated for September 15.

“The forum is expected to list the issues in all sectors from the chamber for the governor elect,” he pointed out.
