The Queen of the North Ready to Represent Youths
By John Kariuki
Not many young people burst with ambition the way Nominated Senator Hezena Lemaletian does.
Ms Lemaletian is commonly referred to as “ The Queen of the North.”
Humble, down-to-earth, kindhearted and focused are just a few of the accolades in lifting the lid in a quest to describe her.
Ms Lemaletian hails from Samburu County and was nominated by the Orange Democratic Movement ODM party to represent the interests of the youths after a vigorous Campaign season across the country where she stood out strongly defending the position of the Youth in the campaign team.
In an acceptance note, she said,
“I totally didn’t see it ncoming it got me as a surprise I’m still reeling from the shock bearing in mind the village I come from.
I’m Very much elated and honoured I will do much in the senate particularly because this is the house of oversight and I am sort of an activist.”
I think because coming from the community I come from its very tough venturing into the political waters. Because some would like you to do something to them so that you can get something in return. I wish my father was alive to see me achieve this. My mother and family have been a solid support system too.
All I just wanted is to live in a secure, progressive and peaceful Country. Raila Odinga would have been a perfect president to ensure this.
Obviously at the top of my list of areas of focus are the Kenyan. Youths. I will come up with new ways to propel the agenda of the youth forward.”
