New Komarock School Officially Opened
By John Kariuki
The President William Samoei Ruto was today accompanied by the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, NG-CDF Board Directors Dr. Isabel Waiyaki and Paul Kibet and NG-CDF Board C.E.O Yusuf Mbuno and other dignitaries for the official launch of the New Komarock South Primary School.
The project is located in Komarock Ward developed on a slightly less than 5 acre parcel of land which was donated by the Housing Finance Group for the sole purpose of constructing a public school.
The facility will take care of over 3,100 students within and beyond Embakasi Central Constituency. The facility will also be helpful in decongesting the existing ones giving room for improvement and modernization of the existing institutions.
This comes hot on the heels as MPs have tabled two Bills to amend the Constitution in the fight to retain the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), opening a new battlefront with civil society that got the Supreme Court to declare the kitty unconstitutional.
The two Bills seek to entrench the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), where constituencies will be entitled to at least five percent of the total annual revenue due to the national government.
Currently, the law sets aside 2.5 percent of the total revenue raised nationally to be shared among the constituencies.
