A total of 500 youths drawn from Tudor ward in Mombasa county have benefited from the distribution of cool boxes in a self employment scheme.
Mombasa Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Tudor ward Samir Baloo said his move is intended to reduce idleness through economic empowerment of the youths in the area.
He pointed out his aim is to ensure youths are self employed through his partnership with Azam Products.
“The program is in line with my campaign pledges during the elections to assist youths to be self employed in the ward,” he added.
Samir added the program is in line with his hustler party manifesto to create employment opportunities in the country.
He spoke when he launched the program during the handing over of the cool boxes at the Germany joint at Tudor matatu stage in Mvita constituency, Mombasa county to chairman Henry Madegwa.
The MCA reiterated that he has partnered with Azam to sell their products through area youth self employment scheme.
Samir defended his decision saying it is part and parcel of selling ice lolly due to the hot weather condition in the county.
He donated the first stock of the product as a jump start as free contribution to each of them.
“I expect them to make at least one thousand or one thousand five
hundred daily out of their sell income,” he said.
The local ward representative said his move is to keep them busy and to earn their daily living rather than being idle.
Samir told them his launch is a big step forward into the life for them to get down to hustler nation to know how to manage themselves.
He reminded them not to despair in life urging them to work hard and they will enjoy their lives.
“I wish to assure you that the first stock of the product will be courtesy of my personal kitty,” he emphasized.
On his part, Madegwa applauded the good gesture from the local leader and urged youths to make use of the self employment initiative launch.
