Nairobi MCAs Accuse Supreme Court of ‘Stealing’ their Parking Space
Nairobi Members of the County Assembly have accused the Supreme Court of irregularly occupying the parking space owned by the county.
The MCAs claim that the Supreme Court has kicked them out of the parking space which was gazzeted as the assembly’s property.
They have since given a two-day ultimatum for the supreme court to vacate the place and leave it available for the MCAs to park their cars.
Majority Leader Peter Imwatok questioned the move by the apex court to lock out the legislators.
At what point did the parking become their property? It is a gazzeted place for the assembly it is ironical that the people who are supposed to serve justice are serving injustice to honorable members,” he said.
He called on the MCAs to come with their cars and occupy the area.
Gatina Ward MCA Kennedy Swaka said that they were not going to negotiate with the Supreme Court over the matter.
” What is rightfully our is ours and we have no time to negotiate on this,”
Nominated MCA Emily Oduor said that she was more than ready to drive her car to the parking place and that ” no one should tell her it’s hot air,”
The parking place is directly adjacent to the Supreme Court and was gazzeted for occupation by Nairobi MCAs.
