Women in Construction Hold First Conference in Nairobi

The inauguaral conferemce for women in construction is underway at a Nairobi hotel.
The conference which is dubbed the ‘Women Fundis in Construction Conference’ is currently ongoing at Safaripark Hotel along Thika Road.
It has attracred women in construction across the country.
The theme of the symposium is: Lead Yourself, Build Your Network and Champion Inclusivity in the Construction Sector.
The event has brought together over 300 women engaged in construction from artisans, supply partners, representatives of government, regulators in construction sector, professional organizations and civil society organizations.
Founder of Buildher said, while speaking at the conference “We are giving women high quality technical training which is enabling them bridge the skills gap in the construction sector”.
Also present was the Chief Guest of the conference Deputy Governor for Nairobi County Dr. James Njoroge who said,” We want to encourage ladies to be at the forefront in driving growth in the construction industry.”
He continued to add a construction sector report launched in 2021 painted the picture that the construction industry in Kenya will be able to grow at an average growth rate of 6.1% and I hope the women will be able to get the lions share of this growth.
He further added that the county will set aside Ksh.50 million to every ward within Nairobi and want to encourage women to grow their wealth using the funds.
The meeting was graced by the First ladies of the Chairperson of the County First Ladies Association Hon. Agnes Ayacho, Hon Dorothy Nyong’o of Kisumu and Alamintu Guyo of Isiolo County.
