Ecosave Africa Gives Nature a Fighting Chance
With climate change and it’s adverse effects being felt day after day, various stakeholders are coming up with innovations in a bid to mitigate the effects of climate change which have been unforgiving, in the recent past . A significant sign is the persistent droughts witnessed in the region.
One such stakeholder is Ecosave Africa Limited. This Writer sought to know more about Ecosave Africa in an exclusive interview with the Founder and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Wanjuki.
“Founded in 2006, Ecosave Africa Ltd has provided waste management services to customers across various scales throughout its history. Our range of environmental management solutions and geographic coverage has grown steadily for over ten years to match the needs of our customers.
It all began with a septic tank. Today, our expertise traverses an array of wastewater and environmental management solutions for our customers, fostering partnerships based on mutual trust to bring out the best of all our engagements.
In just over the last 12 years, we have gradually evolved from a Kenyan-based company with a narrow scope to a dynamic global on-site waste water management solution provider with a range of specialties in environmental management including: Environmental Impact Assessment & Audits, Environmental Evaluation & compliance and Environmental policy and standards.”
Mr. Wanjuki opines that more concerted efforts are required to fight the threats associated with climate change. On his part and Ecosave Africa, Mr Wanjuki offers clean, renowable and eco friendly cookers which use biogas designed to offer solutions for waste water management in an eco-friendly way.
Besides reducibg Methane gas emissions by burning it.
Ecosave Africa eliminates the generation of methane gas by use of a specialised bacteria which prevents formation of methane in waste water breakdown. This is a major step in the whole world. as methane gas has been blamed for contributing to 25% of global warming gases. It is significant to nete that methane gas is not used by animals or plants hence it continue to pose danger to the environment long after its emission.
During COP 26 held last year , the government of Kenya joined other countries in calling for methane gas reduction by 30% by 2030. However without innovations such as one by Ecosave Africa, such an ambitious goal cannot be achieved as the only way we can reduce methane gas is by reducing its emission or repurposing it as a fuel in firm of biogas. These two pronged initiatives are what we do as a business at Ecosave Africa . We are offering these solutions to the entire world.
His clarion call to the government is to enact legislation that will ease technology transfer and also engage exportation of live microorganisms such as the friendly saprophytic bacteria. in Ecotreat Waste Digester.
“there are several regulations that cripple our business since you cannot just export live microorganisms such as the bacteria in Ecotreat Waste Digester without first having the requisite clearance from relevant government agencies. So we are calling upon the government to ease such regulations in a bid to support our business,” This , the government can do by issuing certification that give assurance to the receiving organization.
