Aditi Ashok Wins 3rd Edition of Magical Kenya Ladies’ open golf Championship
Magical Kenya golf Ladies Open 2023 winner, India’s Aditi Ashok, has described the weather at Vipingo Ridge as demanding.
In her acceptance speech after defeating 96 odd players who took part in the four-day tournament to emerge the winner, she applauded women golfers’ growth in the country.
She recalled her first time playing on the country’s soil in 2019 with Naomi Wafula who improved during the opening round and made a cut since the inception of the tournament.
The tournament’s winner, an only child of a couple, and five young Kenyan girls took part in the open tournament.
Aditi, who was flanked by her father, appreciated him for standing at her side through the tournament under hot weather.
The newly crowned 2023 winner dominated the four-day open tournament after posting 280 points.
Her victory came after hard work after she previously lost her bid to clinch the tournament’s title to Esther Henseleit.
The tournament enjoyed live broadcast in over 100 countries around the world with 350 million households tuning in to watch.
First Lady Rachel Ruto presided over the awards ceremony where she was accompanied by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Peninnah Malonza and her sports and youth counterpart Ababu Namwamba.
