Former President Uhuru Kenyatta reaffirmed his loyalty to Azimio leader Raila Odinga and vowed to remain behind him.
He insisted he will abide by his directive within the political circles despite retiring from being Head of State.
‘I have no regrets in supporting Raila’s bid to succeed me during last year’s controversial general election,’ he pointed out.
Kenyatta said Raila is a unifying leader who means well for the country’s electorate and refuted claims he has his personal ambition.
He spoke on his way to Kisumu during several stop-overs along the busy Busia highway before the impromptu anti-President William Ruto crusade and rally held at the famous Uhuru Business Park in Kisumu County. The two leaders had attended the burial for former Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha at Maseno University Akang’o Campus in Yala township, Gem constituency, Siaya county. The burial took place at Umiru village in Nyaminia.
The former Head of State defended Raila and criticized his critics who claim that Raila is out to cause chaos after losing his presidential bid.
Kenyatta said he was within his democratic right to support any one of his choice and refuted claims he wants to make a political comeback.
He reiterated he will support Raila in his presidential bid adding that this is due to his political stand.
‘I am convinced that Raila stands for peace and unity and is against politics based on ethnicity and tribes,’ he said.
On his part, Raila castigated ODM elected leaders who met President William Ruto without the coalition’s consent.
He lashed out at them saying they had gone to be auctioned like livestock.
‘There is no development project one can get with their visit at State House,’ he said.
