Labour CS Challenges NSSF to Support Promote Saving Culture Among the Vulnerable
Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore has urged National SOCIAL Security Fund (NSSF) to prioritise support and promotion of Savings culture to most vulnerable groups including workers in informal economy, migrant workers and social minorities.
Speaking at the validation session of the 2022-2027 NSSF Corporate strategic plan, the CS called on NSSF to fix issues that hamper performance and service delivery such as member complaints, unnecessary lengthy turn around time in claims processing and disbursement of benefits.
She noted that the 2022-2027 Strategic plan,which is at its final stages, is timely as it is coming at a time the Fund is focusing on full implementation of enhanced contributions in line with NSSF Act No. 45 of 2013.
This,she said,was key to mobilising savings to reduce old age vulnerabilities, assist government cut down on borrowing and extending social security to ordinary people.
