All roads lead to Naivasha today for a two – day excursion involving the Members of Nairobi County Assembly and the Executive led by Governor Johnson Sakaja, The Times can authoritatively reveal.

However, the meeting which begins today and it’s agenda have remained shrouded in secrecy such that even the MCAs we talked to are blank on why they have been invited to the “consultative forum” which is expected to kick off today.

Similarly, officials in the county executive committee are tight – lipped on the agenda of the meeting. An impeccable source at the County Assembly told The Times on Friday morning the invitations were done to each individual MCAs.

“It is kept very secret that even some MCAs do not really know what is going to happen. What they generally know is that the governor is going to meet MCAs”, said the source in a brief statement.

The media has also been deliberately kept out of the picture on the purpose of the meeting, the venue and its agenda.

Currently, the House Public Accounts Committee and other Sectoral Committees are reviewing accumulated audit reports by the Auditor General on Nairobi City County Government.

The Times has independently learned that Governor Sakaja convened the two – day consultative forum between his executive team and all the MCAs in order to “iron out emerging friction between the executive and the county legislature”.

Even though, the journalists who report at City Hall have been kept in the dark over the excursion, despite making formal enquiry.

Up to Friday February 23th, 2023 no communique had been issued by the Office of the Governor regarding the agenda of the two – day meeting dubbed consultative forum.

Independent enquiry from officials in the county executive and the legislature, who were contacted by The Times confirmed the consultative forum was on but could not divulge any information regarding the agenda.

Our efforts to get a comment from the Director of Communication in the Office of the Governor, Ms Wangui Maina were futile as there was no response forthcoming.

Our attempts to get comments from the Leader of Majority Peter Imwatok and the Minority Leader Anthony Kiragu could not yield fruit either.
