Veronica Maina Hands Over UDA secretary General Position
Senator Veronica Maina has welcomed the new leadership of the United Democratic Alliance.
In the changes made on Monday, Embu Governor Celily Mbarire was named the new chairperson of the United Democratic Alliance Party replacing Johnson Muthama who resigned from the position.
“Congratulations to Gov Cecil Mbarire the incoming Chairperson UDA , Hon Cleopas Malala who takes over from me as Secretary General UDA , Hon Hassan Omar incoming Deputy Chair , Hon Kawaya incoming Organising Secretary and Hon Nyakudi incoming Treasurer.
Veronica Maina communicated that the party would carry out a mass registration exercise beginning March 1, 2023.
“Together with the UDA team we charted through rough terrain of setting up the Party structures and working hard to secure a win to Presidency under most difficult political circumstances,” said Maina.
Additionally, Mbarire who doubles up as the Embu Governor will now oversee the National Executive Committee, maintaining discipline and order in the party, while providing policy guidance, and fostering unity and cooperation among party organs.
In his acceptance speech, Malala stated that he was grateful for being appointed the SG of the largest party in the country.
“I want to thank my party leader for recognising my capabilities. I take over a party that has a very strong foundation, young but the biggest in Kenya,” he stated.
He equally thanked Mudavadi for giving him the opportunity to serve in his party and mentoring him in leadership
“Am grateful for all the support I was accorded by all members in various structures of the Party , including the Coordinators across the 47 counties who did a commendable job in raising the membership of UDA from 53,000 Members to a strong eight million members.”
