Release Funds or Face Impeachment MCAs Tell Finance CEC
Nairobi County Assembly has now given Finance CEC Charles Kerich a six-hour ultimatum to release the assembly funds failure to which they will impeach him.
According to the MCAs the ‘super’ CEC has now turned the assembly to an executive department which he controls financially at will with the blessing of the governor.
“We are giving Kerich six hours to release our funds. Members cannot perform their duties because of him,” said Majority leader Peter Imwatok.

He added that the lack of funds has paralised the oversight role of members of County Assembly.
“Operations have stalled for a long time and we can’t allow him. To continue he must be impeached.”
The MCAs’ concerns come at a times that the county has been embroiled in a tussle over who should operate the county’s revenue system.
This has led to a Sh1.1 billion drop in revenue by the county in just 6 months.
“Article 176 is clear we will not starve because of one Kerich and am assuring you my support, as the majority leader that we must deal with him squarely and legally.”
Majority Whip Moses Ogeto added that MCAs cannot travel or get their allowances.
“I mean this is shameful and disrespectful he has six hours to act” Ogeto told the house.
