Road Construction deal Goes Sour as Lawyer Ibrahim Adan declines to pay businessmen Sh6 million
City Lawyer Ibrahim Adan of Wetangula, Adan, Makokha and Company advocates has allegedly declined to pay a group of businessmen shs 6 million after they facilitated a road construction deal.
The businessmen claim the cash was meant to be part of their facilitation fee.
They alleged that this is after they persuaded the -then Industrialization minister Adan Mohamed to award Aridland Construction limited company the 4 km EPZ road in 2014.
The businessmen who sought anonymity said the total amount of money paid to Aridlands was 468 million after the road was completed.
The men said Aridlands refused to give them their cut and used the cash to set up the Hallal Slaughterhouse inside EPZ.
The money in contention was shs 83 million.
However, after years of court battles, the businessmen said there is a balance of shs 6 million which the Lawyer was supposed to settle but he has been reluctant.
On 7th October 2019, Judge D.O Chepkwony granted the businessmen who were the plaintiffs stay of execution on condition that the full decretal sum is deposited in a joint interest earning account in the joint names of both advocates for the parties within 30 days failing which the stay of execution shall lapse.
The businessmen said they have been following up with the lawyer to pay the cash but he has refused.
They have threatened to report the lawyer to the LSK for action.
