Kenya Handed a Boost in Quest for Increased EV Adoption
Kenya ’s electric mobility ambitions have received a major boost after Green Revolution Pioneer Agilitee announced the opening of a new dealership store on the 29th of April 2023.
Following the move East Africa is set to become the latest region that will host Agilitee XPress Dealership tobe located at the Garden City Mall, Nairobi.
This comes days after the appointment of the first CEO of Agilitee East Africa, Elizabeth Nasaka, who has been appointed to head regional operations effectively from the 1st of May 2023.
The Agilitee East Africa board has also been constituted, and Mr Fredrick Muteti was appointed as the Chairman of the Board.
The company is also planning a rollout of more XPress dealerships in the region, with Uganda being the next destination after Kenya.
Agilitee started opening its franchise flagship under the XPress banner in December 2022. The electric vehicles Pioneer opened is first Agilitee XPress Dealership in Cape Town on the 1st of December 2022 followed by Agilitee XPress Fourways Mall on the 16th of December 2022.

The giant has since opened three more dealerships in February, and that was Agilitee XPress Menlyn Maine (Pretoria), Agilitee XPress Oceans Mall (Durban) and Agilitee XPress Centurion Mall (Pretoria). The Agilitee Xpress Garden City Mall in Kenya will be the sixth store the giant opened in the last 4 months.
The company has an issued share capital of 1 billion shares. The billionaire CEO and founder donated 100 million of his founder’s shares that represent 10% of Agilitee to the underprivileged.
Agilitee is currently raising $2 billion by selling 100 million shares at $20 a share and that represents 10% of the company’s total issued share capital of 1 billion shares which in turn values Agilitee at $20 billion. The giant will be rolling out its 65-seater full electric buses in Kenya in the month of June.
