Gov’t Declares 800-Acre Shakahola Land a no-go Zone
The controversial Shakahola land massacre mass gravesite is a security risk area and nobody is allowed to access it.
Interior cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki made the announcement hardly a day after he witnessed the ongoing exhumation of bodies at the site in Magarini constituency, Kilifi county which is being linked to Pastor Paul Mackenzie of Good News international church which has been receiving negative publicity.
He cautioned that the site is not accessible to members of the public and insisted no one would be permitted to access it.
“The Chakama Ranch has also been declared a scene of crime and therefore no member of the public will be allowed to access it,” he said.

Kindiki said measures to secure the scene of crime at the controversial Shakahola land massacre mass gravesite are in place.
In a statement released to media houses he said pursuant to Section 10611 of the National Police Service Act (CAP 11A) and Section 811 the much published site cannot be disturbed.
The CS confirmed that the aforesaid declaration is contained in the Kenya Gazette Legal Notices Number 52 and 53 of 2023 published on Tuesday, 25 th April 2023.
Kindiki said the forest area will be under a dusk to dawn curfew for 30 days with no public gatherings, processions or movement either alone or as a group into and out of the Chakama ranch during the period of the curfew.
He added in the statement that the government has set up a Public Information, Tracing and Support Centre at the entrance to Chakama Ranch at Shakahola Village, at the turnoff from the Malindi-Sala gate highway.
“Members of the public are advised to file any enquiries, information or missing person (s) report(s) at the Public Information, Tracing and Support Centre,” he stated.
