Bungoma Churches to Display Licenses or face closure within 30 Days

Religious institutions across Bungoma County have been directed to register with Registrar of Societies and present their licences to authorities as required by law.
While addressing media, Bungoma County, Francis Kooli emphasized on the importance of separating chuff from wheat instead of leaving few individuals to tarnish the religious sector.
The police commander also stated that it’s perilous to continue condoning suspicious mushrooming churches which thrive in the name of practising freedom of worship yet they’re misleading masses and even threatening their lives.
“It is our duty to ensure the lives of every mwananchi is protected as such every religious institution should comply with the stipulated rules within 30 days,” he warned.
On the other hand, the ones that already have certificates of conformity have been advised to display a copy in their churches and present photocopies to their nearest police station.
“As at now, we’ve recorded 1584 churches and still counting; 310 in Bungoma South, 460 in Bungoma Central,390 in Webuye East and 424 in Kimilili,” divulged Kooli .
