Shock as Woman is arraigned in Court for Stealing Coffins
Shock gripped a Nairobi court after a woman was arraigned for allegedly stealing coffins.
Appearing before Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi the accused through her lawyer informed the Court that she has been framed with the said offence of stealing coffins.
It is alleged that Moureen Khikani in her 30s while employed as a sales lady at St. Augustine funeral service located at Kenyatta Market Nairobi County stole two coffins valued ksh90,000 and twenty-six pieces of coffin handles valued ksh117,000.
The accused pleaded not guilty to one count of stealing by servant contrary to section 281 of the penal code.
Moureen a single mother of one who was arrested on Thursday 17th of August told the trial court that her case is based on witch hunt, she further said that it is after she left her former employer and stated her own funeral company that has ignited the arrest and possibly being charged.
Senior Principal Magistrate freed the accused on a bond of 200,000 surety of the same or a cash bail of 100,000 plus one contact person pending pretrial.
