City Lawyer Dastan Omari Appointed to Defend Meru Governor Faith Kawira in Impeachment Proceedings

City lawyer Dastan Omari has been appointed by Meru governor Faith Mwangaza Kawira to represent her before the Meru County assembly on the 25th of October 2023.

This is after the governor Kawira confirmed that she had received a letter from the county assembly on the 17th of October seeking to have her appear before them in response to her impeachment.

“That our client is in receipt of your letter dated the 17th October,2023 persuant to the provisions standing orders no 68 of the county assembly of Meru standing orders”read the letter.

The letter was addressed to the chief of staff Meru county and the clerk of the assembly of Meru.

A motion of impeachment against Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has been tabled at the County Assembly.

The motion was tabled by Majority Leader Evans Mawira on Tuesday on the floor of the House.

The first-term Governor who was elected on an independent ticket has been having challenges with the county assembly which has accused her of discrimination and misuse of public resources among other charges.
