Taekwondo Players Urged to Exercise Discipline, Upgrade Selves with Latest Technologies

Upcoming Taekwondo players have been urged to upgrade and keep abreast with latest technologies.
Mombasa based Grand master Kim kyu Jong further urged players to embrace seminars and competitions to gauge their standards.
Flanked by the Chairman of the Nairobi county Taekwondo Association coach Voiya Lumwach,the grandmaster appealed to Players to take the game seriously and exercise discipline to earn respect and advance their careers.
Master Kim who is one of the highly ranked tactician in the region disclosed that the next grading is slated for April.
He made the remarks over the weekend at the Nairobi. Premier gym after officiating a colorful graduation ceremony for Athletes who were promoted to their respective Dan’s.
It was wild cheers for six players who graduated to the 4th Dan degree. They included Milka Mildred Akinyi from Paradiso club from Mathare, Moses Mairanga, Kennedy Kimemia, Cosmas Kimathi and Paul Gathimu.
Another graduant who received the 4th Dan degree in absentia was Hastings Ngala
Three players graduated to 3rd Dan degree while eight players including four each were honoured to the 1st and 2nd Dan degrees respectively.
Lumwach who doubles up as the Nairobi regions Taekwondo club congratulated the participants adding that there is need to have more girls and juniors in the game.
He pleaded with coaches to work on licenses for their players so that it can act as part of their medical covers incase of any calamity or injuries.
Lumwach who is credited for using his own money to promote the game to another level urged the entire Taekwondo fraternity not to transact their money to individuals but use official Bank Account for transparency and accountability purposes.
Chi Milka Akinyi who received her 4th Dan degree lauded Taekwondo National office led by Master Kim and Lumwach for organizing the Award ceremony.
“This is a great milestone in our careers, life will never be the same again. This degree will inspire us to work harder to achieve higher grades” She noted.
Similar sentiments were expressed by James Ngatia, Kennedy Kimemia and Paul Gathuru who said Taekwondo sport in Kenya has a bright future.
