Dialogue has been urged as the countrywide doctors’ strike  enters its 11th day.
Catholic Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mombasa Martin Kivuva Musonde has sent a passionate appeal to both the government and the striking doctors to give dialogue a chance to avert calamities to members of the public.
He added that it has reached a time for both sides to soften their stand and urged them to listen to each other through dialogue.
“Hard stances won’t resolve the stalemate in the health sector with the continuing strike,” he pointed out.
Kivuva told those  mandated to bring reconciliation that the two sides must embrace dialogue for normalcy to resume in public hospitals.
He was speaking at Our Lady Mother of Africa Pastoral Center after Christians thronged Mombasa streets in Mvita constituency during a procession to mark this year’s Palm  Sunday despite the rainfall ahead of the Easter festival.
The Catholic Archbishop told the media that he is optimistic a solution will be found soonest.
Kivuva challenged the government to be on the fore front to listen to the striking doctors’ views and demands rather than taking a hard stand.
He dismissed claims they have taken sides arguing that their concern is to ensure the resumption of operations at public hospitals.
“Ordinary Kenyans depend on public hospitals when they get sick and with the ongoing strike they are the most affected,” he added.
