Cruise ship with over 1000 tourists docks at Mombasa port for Easter

There was a beehive of activity during the reception of a cruise ship which docked at the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) cruise terminal along berth number one at the port of Mombasa.

A total of 1100 passengers and 500 crew disembarked from MV Ambiemce at the port city from the United Kingdom.

Local traditional dancers were at hand to entertain them led by Tourism Principal Secretary John Olotuaa..

Speaking alongside their arrival the PS told the media the tourists are expected to sample the national parks and tour the port city.

He disclosed their stay in the country will be a big boost to the country’s economy.

“The impact to the country’s economy will be significant during their stay,” he added.

The PS announced since the beginning of this year the country has received four cruise ships with a total of 8,325 passengers and crew which is an indication that in 2024 the country is a prime destination cruise ship tourism.

Olotuaa, who was flanked by KPA General Manager Engineering Services Julius Tai, revealed the newly contracted cruise terminal is able to handle 140 cruise ships annually without a hitch.
