The Kenya Kwanza administration is concerned with Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s bid to take over the African Union (AU) chairmanship and has vowed to rally behind him.
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) national vice chairman who is East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Hassan Omar Hassan alias Sarai sought to put the record straight that Raila’s bid is of great concern to the Kenya Kwanza administration.
He said they resolved to support Raila’s bid being one of their own and decided to put their political party affiliations aside for Raila’s sake.
“President William Ruto is back in the country from shuttle diplomacy to ensure Raila succeeds in his bid,” he pointed out.
Sarai disclosed that the President took Raila’s campaign to western countries where he met various leaders with a clear agenda for him to win.
He was speaking during this year’s iftar dinner held at Burhani Sports Club in Mvita constituency, Mombasa county.
The EALA MP said they have a unity of purpose.
The UDA vice chairman said that such a trend should be embraced in coast regional politics.
He urged local leaders to embrace unity with a purpose and to put their party affiliations and differences aside.
“The region won’t wait for leaders from outside to bring unity among elected leaders in the region,” he added.
