DCI Flags CO Planning Nominee Waqo, Warn Against his Appointment

Director of Criminal Investigation DCI has warn Nairobi City County Assembly from clearing Halkano Waqo for the Chief Officer Planning position.
In a letter to the speaker, Waqo is under serious criminal investigations and that clearing him for the position will jeopardize the same.
He is under 20 billion shillings probe that was raised by Auditor General in the financial year 2018/2019 when he was the chief officer finance at City Hall.
“It is true they have communicated to us concerning Waqo…there are fictitious payments he made during his time at Cityhall and the investigative agency believe that what they have collected so far is watertight.” Assembly insider intimated.
He Did Not Apply for The Job
It has also been revealed that he did not apply for the job but was illegally shortlisted by City hall power brokers in collaboration with the board.
“Another problem the nominee is facing is that he did not apply for this job after it was advertised by the County Public Service Board. It means then that anyone can successfully challenge his appointment in a court of law. To avoid this the assembly has only one option to drop him.” The source continued.
