Judith Nyangi, Vice Chairperson of the Nairobi County Alcoholic Drinks Control and Licensing Board, has directed bar owners to strictly adhere to the rules outlined in their operating licenses. She emphasized that her office is committed to ensuring that traders receive their licenses within 21 working days after application, provided they comply with all regulations during both the inspection and operational phases.

Nyangi addressed concerns raised by bar owners and liquor stores regarding delays in license processing, attributing these frustrations to issues at the sub-county level, where some officials have been accused of withholding forms. She assured the traders that these delays would be resolved and that licenses would be issued promptly within the stipulated timeframe.

“We have received numerous complaints from bar owners and liquor stores about not receiving timely licenses due to frustrations from some sub-county level teams hiding the forms. We assure the traders that they will get their licenses within 21 days,” Nyangi stated.

Additionally, Nyangi encouraged traders who had previously refrained from applying for licenses due to stringent rules or bureaucratic frustrations to lodge their complaints directly with the Liquor Board office located in South C.

Her directives aim to streamline the licensing process and ensure fair and efficient service delivery, ultimately fostering a better business environment for bar owners and liquor store operators in Nairobi.
