Mombasa turned into ghost town
Mombasa’s central business district [CBD] was a deserted area despite being a weekday.
A survey carried out found the CDB was empty of activities and business premises were closed due to fear of looting as youths had planned to hold anti-government protests.
Things were almost at a standstill with eating joints closed and only a few Public Service Vehicles [PSVs] seen operating from a long distance.
The move comes following skirmishes which were witnessed during the protests leading to loss of lives and destruction of property.
Business owners are counting their losses and trying to come to terms with the ant-government protests.
Goons have infiltrated and hijacked the once perceived to be peaceful protests against the government leading to calls for the protests to be halted and the protesters to engage in roundtable talks with the administration.
