Nyali MP Mohamed Ali Defends Legislators’ Vote on Finance Bill 2024
Nyali MP Mohamed Ali alias Jicho Pevu has appealed to the electorate to stop harassing legislators who voted for the controversial Finance Bill 2024 at the floor of the National Assembly.
He defended them saying they were merely expressing their constitutional rights.
“They have not committed any criminal offences to warrant punishment,” he said.
Jicho Pevu said those who voted for the bill did so to benefit their electorate and refuted claims they had a hidden agenda in supporting the controversial Finance Bill 2024 at the floor of the National Assembly.
He was addressing the media at Royal Court hotel in Mombasa county.
The lawmaker, who broke his silence on the stand he had taken to vote for the aborted bill, defended his decision saying he did so to bring more development at his back yard.
He said said he has no apologies to make in supporting the controversial Finance Bill 2024 at the floor of the National Assembly.
“I have no regrets or apologies to make to my constituents as I was making my constitutional stand to vote yes to the bill,” he insisted.
The lawmaker told the media he was entitled to either support the bill or reject the bill.
Jicho Pevu has asked the protesters to embrace peace to avert the skirmishes which have rocked the country.
