Ruto should be given room to implement protesters’ demands – Clerics

Kenya Muslims National Advisory Council (KEMNAC) chairman Sheikh Juma Ngao has called on those who have been nominated to the cabinet from the coast region to be more effective in delivering service  to the country.

He applauded the appointments of former Mombasa governor Hassan Ali Joho for the Mining, Blue Economy docket and the transfer of Joho’s predecessor Salim Mvurya to the Investments and Trade docket and asked them to ensure coastal residents benefit out of their appointments.

“We, local residents, want to see the results of your appointments and not mere words,” he  pointed out.

Sheikh Ngao said despite lauding their appointments the ball is now in their court and eyes are on them.

He was addressing the media at New Palm Tree Hotel in Mombasa county.

The KEMNAC chairman told the media Joho has a track record of performance during his tenure as Governor of the port city.

Sheikh Ngao added the current state-of-the-art Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital which is the second largest public hospital in Kenya is as a result of Joho’s leadership.

He urged the protesting youths to give the government time to implement pending demands.

“Majority of the their demands have been addressed and they should therefore halt the countrywide protests,” he appealed.
