CS Miano Backs Goal to Elect 24 Female Governors in Upcoming Elections
Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has expressed strong support for the goal of increasing the number of female governors to at least 24 out of 47 in the upcoming elections.
Speaking at the G7 Summit in Machakos County, Miano encouraged women legislators to take an active role in mentoring the next generation of female leaders, emphasizing it as both a responsibility and an opportunity to shape future leadership. She highlighted the importance of mentorship, stating that women are well-equipped to deliver on this goal.
“The dream of having no less than 24 women governors in Kenya’s 47 counties is not only valid but crucial. I fully support this ambition. Our numbers speak for themselves, and as women, we are more than capable, as demonstrated by the accomplishments of those in the G-7 caucus,” she said.
Miano also took the opportunity to seek the support of the G7 female governors in promoting domestic tourism across the country. She urged them to collaborate with her in cultivating a culture of domestic tourism among Kenyans, stressing the untapped potential of this sector.
“As I serve at the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, I humbly ask the seven of you to join me in fostering a culture of domestic tourism in Kenya. Let’s work together to encourage Kenyans to explore and appreciate their own country. I will be reaching out to collaborate with you in unlocking this largely unexplored area,” Miano added.
